Building up resilience

Uncertainty, along with the strain needed to deal with it, is growing at a relentless pace. The only way to keep stress under control and a clear view of what’s going on is by building resilience. Unfortunately, one can’t pick resilience from trees or by drinking camomile.

Resilience is the ability to successfully bounce back after something harmful hits us. So, the question stands: how can we overcome adversity? The answer is through being able to adapt and change course. To achieve this, one must first understand which goals are attainable and can or cannot be under control.

Instead of allowing difficulties, painful events or failure deplete their determination, resilient people always find a way to heal and keep moving toward their purpose. In turn, purpose must be framed within a strategy compatible with a vision, a set of solid strengths and appealing opportunities.

Resilience

A sound strategy, resolve and a good plan, flexible enough to be fine-tuned as needed, are of utmost importance. We must be ready to switch gears, find new goals, and break the power of whatever a detrimental cycle is doing to us.

Fast learning, collaborative work and a good intelligence system capable of proactively coping with the environment’s evolution are also important parts of a process aimed to curb ambiguity.

Resilience

Fighting uncertainty and stress to make individual behaviour more emotionally agile and focused is a task that needs to resort to different areas of expertise working together, such as Psychology and Management. Resilience can turn into a culture that drives both the company and people to be more engaged, creative and skilled in dealing with change.
